Happy Super Bowl Week!  While I'm totally bummed about my Niners not winning last weekend, I'm even more bummed about my poor Bills not even making the playoffs.  Feel free to laugh.  It's all we Buffalonians can do.

Anyway, this post has nothing and everything to do with Buffalo.  Everyone else in the country might call them "Buffalo Wings,"  but to us, they're just chicken wings.  Or even better, just wings.  And I don't think there's anything sadder than a Buffalonian trying to choke down New England's version of Buffalo sauce.  Our first time ordering wings in Worcester, they came to us fully breaded.  It was like KFC with hot sauce drizzled over the top.  They weren't even tossed in the sauce.  Massachusetts: you're doing it wrong. (sidenote:  can I just add that they don't even give the option of mild, medium, and hot??)

I'm getting sidetracked.  The best substitute we have is Roger's version of chicken wing dip.  And while it doesn't produce the most beautiful photographs, I promise it will be the most delicious thing you've ever had and the perfect addition to your Super Bowl Sunday festivities.

We use a recipe very similar to this.  I'm not sure of the exact recipe, because Roger's always the one that makes it and he doesn't measure anything... he just dumps ranch dressing and hot sauce in until it "looks right."  We also always use canned chicken, but I'm sure it would taste just as good, if not better, with shredded chicken breasts or thighs.  We also heat all of the ingredients on the stove top before putting it into the dish and sliding it into the oven.

This blog post is pointless.  I realize now that I have no recipe to help anyone.  I'm so sorry.  Disregard today's post.  The only point it has is to tell you how much I love this dip and my Buffalo roots.

But we always just eat it with tortilla chips and let me tell you... it's amazing.  Try it.  You know, with the other recipe from the Frank's Redhot website.  ;)

But seriously, I have no interest in the Super Bowl this year.  Especially since nobody knows the rules to the stupid game anyway.  Don't get me started.  I'll be pulling for the Broncos, just because my best friend in high school is from Denver and a huge fan (heyyy, Jess!).  Otherwise, I'll just be over here eating my chicken wing dip and drinking wine with my friend, Nicole, while our boyfriends and their other Optometry School classmates are a little more into the game.

  1. We used to make a version of this dip for our annual Christmas/my Birthday party in DC and I agree, it's A-MAZ-ING!!! definitely need to make it again sooooon.

P.S. Have used both canned and boiled then shredded chicken for our recipe - both are tasty and the left overs the following day are always the best!

    1. I TOTALLY agree-- leftovers the next day are just as good! Ps-- enjoy some wings for me this weekend ;)
