Last week, we finally got our cable/internet/phone hooked up.  We decided to get a home phone because that package was actually one cent cheaper than just the cable and internet package.  So the cable guy came and hooked everything up for us.  He was really nice, but I resented him for almost 24 whole hours.  Why?  Because he left our living room looking like this:

Please, let my cute dog distract you from what is behind her.

Neither of us took the time to put everything into the power strip so that it would all fit, so the power line to our phone looked like this:

Not. Okay.

We were already on the hunt for a new entertainment console, but this catastrophe just sped up the process.  A couple of hours of scouring Craigslist miraculously turned up this beauty:

The price was a little steep for us, so we contacted the seller and negotiated them down to $40.  We're nothing if not persuasive.  They agreed to $40 if we could pick it up that day.  Needless to say, we were all over that-- well, after we made sure it would fit in the back seat of the Grand Prix.

We went and picked it up (Olive rode along), muscled it out of the car and into the elevator, washed it down really well in our kitchen, argued a little over cord placement, and voila:

There she is.  Isn't she pretty??

Don't mind the back view...

I said don't mind it.  It's on the list.

Speaking of the list, I'd eventually like to change out the drawer pulls on the front to something a little bit softer like this or this, and maybe paint the tempered glass a bright white or soft aqua to give it more of a contrast-y two-tone look, like this.

And, we have some smoothing out to do, because some spots look like this:

Roger was a little disappointed, because he was under the impression that it was solid wood.  It isn't, but I'm thankful for that.  I don't think I could have carried anything heavier.  But it's in pretty good condition, and it makes our living room look about a thousand times better.

And since this freed up a coffee table, we took it in the bedroom to put our giant dinosaur TV on it!

We still have a lot of wires hanging out in there, but it's so much better than the living room was.  The table isn't very high, but it puts the television about 18 inches higher off the ground than it was, so that's a huge plus.

I really don't know where I want this yet, so that's what is stopping me from looking for a stand for this room, too.  I really don't even know if I want the bed where it is, so maybe once I figure that out, we can just put the TV on the dresser.  I don't know.  Too many wires, not enough solutions.

But anyway, one more before and after of the living room:

Before we even got our cable set up:

And after:

What a relief.
