me and my momma - 1991

I really don't like Mother's Day.

Here's why:

How can we possibly ever give mothers the appreciation they deserve?  Sure we can buy them presents, give them flowers, make them something special-- but how does that even begin to show them the gratitude we feel?

Answer: it doesn't, and never will.

We will never be able to give back to our mothers in the same way that they've given to us our whole lives, but honestly, I don't think they care.

I look at my mother and grandmother now, and it's been my grandmother's whole life to make sure that her kids are happy and healthy.  I think that's the point of having kids.  You know they'll never be able to give back to you what you give to them, but that's okay... because they're your babies.

My mom is the strongest person I've ever met in my whole life and she's more beautiful than she knows.  She's taught me kindness, courage, and determination.  I know the four of us give her a hard time sometimes, but I hope she never forgets how much we love and appreciate her.

Words can't express what she means to us, but I hope she knows this feeling.  I love you momma.
